poster art

Post by John »

Does anyone want to design a poster for our New Years show? It's kind of a rush job, but we'll try to get them made.

Like I've stated before, I am awesome at stick figures.

Alas, anything requiring skill... I just can't do it.

I'd be interested in seeing what everyone comes up with, though!

fun, this would be. but seeing as how i've never designed a poster in my entire life, i'm not going to offer any services right now. i'll probably do one, though, and keep it to myself.

I know, what are the chances, right?! It's so great when my incoherent rambling is actually timely.

Sadly, I'm no poster artist. I just like talking about posters. Go for it, Zach!

I think you should try to avoid including any of the obvious info, like band, support act, date, time, and most definitely venue. But obviously you will want to include a picture of an oliebol, so all Dutch people will know it's on New Years Eve. That way the band will draw a lot of Dutch fans. Hell, I would come if there was an oliebol on the poster.

Well, I did one up, but I included all the boring stuff like time and date and stuff. We'll see how that goes over with the fearless leader.

Maybe I should do a series of posters that have clues that lead people to the show, you know, like that guy did with the books leading to diamond encrusted beetles and stuff.

Because an New Year's eve with the Long Winters is better than a emerald frog anyday. (that will be the motto on the gig's T-shirts)

And if you photoshop John's Rickenbacker out and add in a bouzouki, the Greek audience will increase ten-fold.

(Liesbeth, you continue to rock my world.)

Just don't forget to include a giant squid or a river otter fighting a penguin.

There is no apple in oliebollen. It's a yeasty dough, which is deep-fried until crispy on the outside and - if all goes well - cooked on the inside. It's disgustingly greasy. It's great winter food. There is in fact a variation with apple called appelbeignets, which is also really great.
Where did you eat the aebleskiver, and what are they like?

And before turning this into a cattywampus food thread completely:
I will gladly post any poster designs on the library site, if I get them in by mail. Why should only Seattle get the fun?

I believe that(penguin v. squid/otter) is an essential componet to anything being good, especially posters.

My boss/thesis advisor found one of those.

It started off very strange - we all got an email from him saying, "I'm sorry I didn't come to work today, I had to fly to South Dakota to look for a jewel-encrusted beetle." Naturally, our reaction was "Wha...?"

Ever since, it's been a flurry of media appearances. It's very weird to watch your boss/thesis advisor being interviewed by Katie Couric on the Today Show.
