At last we meet, John Roderick...

Post by mindsale »

I am Richard Dean Anderson, television's beloved Angus MacGyver. I have made this computer out of four shards of glass, a deck of playing cards, and a pack of Bazooka Joe. The keyboard is made of my own excrement. I'm told you're up for a brawl?

Well, I'm not really Richard Dean Anderson, but I imagine the confrontation would begin something like that. John could destroy him - John's way taller, he's got reach on him. MacGyver's 5 foot nothin', and lest we not forget MacGyver's in his mid-50's. The real battle here is a musical one - MacGyver's theme song is one of the greatest musical compositions ever recorded. Maybe if Long Winters covered it, then would they truly feel the power of 80's television and once and for all end this bitter rivalry that's taken too many lives already...

TODAY the 23rd of January, is Richard Dean Anderson's Birthday! He's 54. I still think the winner of this fight is the message board.

Richard Dean Anderson didn't even give two sh*ts about Macgyver... to him it was just a paycheck.

Does that make you sad, Jace? Does it break your itty-bitty heart?

Well, first we have to establish that MacGyver won't just phone it in. Richard Dean may have phoned it in, but not Macky G.

MacGyver can make a bomb outta a matchstick, piece 'o gum and a small stuffed lobster.

Jace can make magic with a guitar.

Lets go to the math....

MacGyver = war
Jace = rock
Rock > War
Jace > MacGyver

Jace wins. And this new math 'aint treason.

I find your conclusion to be false.

I agree with heather, for the simple reason that MacGyver doesn't Kill, and therefore CANNOT equal war. NYA's conclusion may not be treason, but is certainly false.

No way, he killed his arch-enemy Murdoc like 7 or 8 times.

Murdoc survived every time, he wasn't even dead!

Let me clarify with the help of wikipedia:
Wikipedia wrote:MacGyver is a highly intelligent action hero who prefers non-violent conflict resolution wherever possible. He refuses to carry or use a gun due to a childhood accident with a revolver that resulted in the death of a friend—though MacGyver can be seen firing an AK-47 at some Russian soldiers during the episode "Pilot" before his dislike of firearms had been established. The character is portrayed as an outspoken gun control advocate as well as being politically liberal in other respects. Even in cases where his improvised devices are used to attack hostile opponents, he is always shown doing so in self-defense and, if possible, subduing or disabling rather than killing. He is often suspicious of militaristic attitudes within the government; he sees his Phoenix Foundation employer as an alternative to the more conventional (and violent) means of law enforcement.

Therefore, while his killer status being vauge, his overall reluctance to commit violence and to subdue or disable rather than kill, removes the possibility of being equal to War. And if MacGyver is not equal to war, then, the statement is false.

See, I showed my work now too!

I concur, but that still doesn't mean MacGyver topples Jace.

I gotta go back to the lab to figure this one out... anybody have a bunson burner?
