Nice concert pic from Kathryn

In other news, I'm thinking it might be helpful to develop some kind of interactive timeline of John's eyeglasses. I think I'm about two pairs behind right now, and this latest Elvis "TCB" model has me disoriented but curious.

Don't bother Merlin. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into!

We're talking HUNDREDS of pairs, most of them hideous (personal opinion.) He made me help him carry one of those rotating eyeglass stands home from Value Village and he filled it within minutes. He would need a vacant Lens Crafter store to display all of his glasses. Sorry JRod, but it's true.

via a (foxy glasses wearing) intermediate friend, I've been told I have a similar prescription to John. But dang, glasses are expensive; how can he afford his rock'n'roll lifestyle?

I was thinking of doing some sort of timeline for Brocktoon's everchanging facial and head hair.

Answers to ?'s about J-Rods glasses

Postby bubbamo » Tue Jun 22, 2004 10:01 pm

I hope some of you can "weigh in" on this one. The mystery of such an
interesting collection of glasses has always had me perplexed.

Scenario # 1- John has signed an endorsement deal with an eyeglass
company to display their glasses. ( think about this one: John gets free glasses and company gets alot of exposure because J- Rod is most
truly a "chick magnet")

Scenario # 2- John used to work as an optician and has access to all kinds
of vintage eyeglass frames.

Scenario # 3- J-Rod has a deal worked out with some adoring fan somewhere that happens to be an optometrist, they supply him with glasses and JR in return sends this person music, tickets, etc.

Scenario # 4- John, NOT, the optometrist is the drug dealer!
Interesting twist huh? John supplies drugs. Optometrist supplies
glasses. ( Boy this guy must have a real problem! )

Scenario # 5- John purchases glasses at his local optical shop, because he is filthy rich and can afford to pay big $$ for such extravagance.

Anyway, which of the above is true?
And which is your favorite pair?
I like the glasses that he was sporting at the KEXP " Morning show gig
this past spring

Time for SLR to clear the mystery! So, what's the real story behind the hundreds of pairs of glasses???

He buys the frames from second-hand stores, I think he ususally pays around a dollar a pair. The prescription is obviously extra but he only fills certain frames depending on what look he is working.

I wonder if Buddy Holly or that fellow from The Zombies made similar deals.

No, no joking here! But I did hide the truth in a multiple choice quiz to keep L- Dub fans on their toes. Anyway There are a few pair I haven't seen him wear yet, and I would really like to have a little talk with our
rock star friend. ( I saw the video for "Nora" live in Toronto and it
" appears " that John kicks the glasses after they had fallen from his nose during the climactic moments leading up to the big finale in that song.) Oh well, I'll forgive because it is such a wonderful ( and intense )
performance. Anyhow no one deserves or appreciates the old spectacles
more than J- Rod. The Long Winters are to put it simply, THE BEST!!![/quote]

Ooh, you put sand in our eyes with that remark...
Scenario 4 made me laugh, but #3 really seemed too far fetched.
The league of LW fans is versatile indeed.

beautiful.

can it fold out to resemble a pair of glasses?

perhaps a pair of glasses sitting on top of a book on top of a coffee table?
