Well, before we get excited about Kerry 'n' Edwards...
Let's see if we're even going to be permitted to VOTE.
<shaking head in disbelief> I had heard about this from a friend, and hoped it was some sort of appalling, totalitarian rumour. Apparently it is not. (Not that i belive everything that Newsweek says, but...)

Okay people. Here's the latest, pulled off sfgate.com
Looks like Condie's trying to douse the flame on this one, but Squiddy ain't buying it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Bush tried to raise us to DefCon Pink or whatever in the hopes of drumming up votes from the scared masses.
Rest assured folks, I'm keeping an eye on this. Grrr.

this IS fucking scary.
never underestimate the tactics that bush and his republicans will use to get exactly what they want (bush back in the white house and a nation full of people who believe in "traditional" marriage and are pro-life). ugh. it's terrifying, actually. like i was asked in a conversation about this this evening..."are we going to lose all of our freedom, or what?"
but people WILL riot if this truly happens...and then, then they'll see...

It's almost a little funny how self-righteous
the U.S. government has become; they seem
to have forgotten that not everyone on this
damn planet is thinking about us at every
moment. The scary part is that the gov't, in
conjunction with the media, have dooped
many of us into believing it.
i want to go to Britain.

Has anyone else noticed that every time there is some bad news for the administration the terror alerts come flying out?
The sad part is that I was joking around a couple weeks ago saying that they would issue another terror alert the day after Kerry announced his running mate (I was wrong... it was two).
Watch to see if we go to Orange right before the Democratic National Convention.
"HEY AMERICA, LOOK OVER HERE!!! Dont' pay attention to that, just be scared... What? No, we don't know EXACTLY where they are going to hit, but they are going to soon so be scared... but go about your normal life. Basically, be scared enough to let us do whatever we want, but not so scared that you realize that change might be what is needed."
Dammit guys, who keeps laying these soapboxes all around?

Honestly, as hard as it is to motivate the American voter, I don't think even this adminstration could get away with suspending the vote.
However, I find the current terror warning practices infuriating. It's not just political manipulation...every time the threat is heightened, states and municipalities react with additional security. This costs a lot of money.
According to the WSJ, some mayors are reporting up to $70 million extra dollars a week every time a warning is raised. The terror alerts are not even ragion specific...so when there's a threat on the Pentagon, Seattle puts more cops onthe street and more operators on 911. A ridiculous waste of tax dollars while schools close and unemployment figures continue to rise.

hey, we had a terr'rr alert over here, and don't even have elections coming up, so what was that good for.
I do, truly, but I cannot speak for the rest of the world.
But sure, lots of people look to see what you fine people are gonna choose for president, because it does affect the rest of the world.
If everyone was really pro-life, does that mean they would be anti-war and anti-arms?
Darn, I'm just being naive again.

Or until they've been convicted of some sort of crime.
I believe there is a direct correlation between growing up unwanted and unloved and a lack of respect for society and it's rules. Far fetched you say?
