Shameful confession
I have a horrible confession that I just need to get off my chest and hopefully get some absolution for. It's a terrible sin and I hope I can be forgiven:
I LOVE the song Toxic by Britney Spears. I can't get enough of it, and probably never will because I'll never bring myself to buy the song or the album. But it's so insanely catchy, the synthy violin goodness, the sweet-as-nectar like driving pop rhythm. Okay, I may have erased all indie cred I ever had.

Betty Felon wrote:hahahaha. ok. Is toxic the one with "I'm a slaaaaaave, for you..." and she dances with her underwear outside of her pants? That song confused the hell out me.
No, that's some ridiculous Prince-like title like "Slave 4 U" I think. Toxic is the one where she writhes around on the floor naked except for strategically placed diamonds and makes out with a guy in the bathroom of a plane before killing him and it goes
"With the taste of your lips
I'm on a ride
You're toxic I'm slippin' under (Ohh Ohh)
With a taste of the poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do
Don't you know that you're toxic?"
*sigh*
No worries, AK...No Doubt's been chappin' my hide for almost a decade now, and yet, somehow, i find Gwen Stefani's solo single quite addictive. Most likely coz it doesn't exactly sound like her. The equation looks something like this:
Song = No Doubt - guitar + synths - Gwen + Madonna.
The lyrics of the song are comprised entirely of her giving herself a peptalk about going solo, plus added compliments from others. It's a trip.
EDIT: ARGH. I forgot to explain how i've been a bit down and so I totally overidentified with this song and found myself thinking things like, "See? Even Gwen needs a peptalk, sometimes!".
And then I felt better and then I stopped eating all the ice cream.

hmmm....I haven't seen that one. But then, I don't have cable anymore. In fact, I don't even have UHF channels anymore.
But sometimes those mainstream pop artists are irresistable. I've fallen for Alicia Keys even though I know she's not the super prodigy genius she gets credit for. And Justin Timberlake won me over too.

Is this the crazy video where she's inside a doll house with bunnies and running thru one of those crazy mazes? Man, that is some serious Madonna sound, isn't it?
For those cable deprived you can see it at www.sonicnet.com (a VH1 site). In my defense for knowing that, sonicnet actually has some cool videos on it like live Citizen Cope and let's not forget LDubs Blue Diamonds.

I don't own anything, but when I was bartending I used to bop around to Justin Timberlake...
sometimes even before the bar was open. when I was setting up. by myself. I can't blame anyone or point fingers. it was often on the top hits or whatever satelite channel.

The Cardigans are awesome all around! There is a Black Sabbath cover on that album! The new disc is supposed to be fantastic too...anyone heard it?
I also must confess that I love No Doubt. Ever since that uber cheesy "Just a Girl" song. But seriously...who can resist a dancehall beat? Anyone? Is it possible?

I really can't picture that waify little blonde croaking out:
I AM IRON MAAAAAAAAAN!!!
Betty, AJ...
Although I know there's proof that Justin is the Anti-Christ, (somewhere)
I'm a fool for "Bye, bye, bye"...
I had a clip from ND's "spiderweb" as my answering machine msg for like 4 months...
It be the devil's ska, mateys...

Oh! It was never the dancehall! Dancehall is to die for. It was...them. And of course the whole Talk Talk debacle just drove me over the edge.
but yeah her new little ditty: catchy. wonder who actually produced the track. I know I'm gonna hit myself in the head and go, "DUH!", when i finally figure it out. There are some signature beats in there...

Just got a chance to hear it....it reminds me a lot of The Faint for some reason. Did you ever find out who produced it?
