Thanks to Caroline on my LJ, I was informed of this. And I love it! I've gotten 750 or so words done, and I'm hoping to triple that by tonight. Check it out! It really is a rush of accomplishment!

Its on! My handle there is JosephD, what's yours? And no, I post here at work, so you'll see me more. In fact this novel writing has got me more focused on things I care about. I should do it more often!

It's like a novel writing marathon. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel by midnight at the end of the month. The group putting it on donates money to build libraries in 3rd world countries. It's an opportunity for those of us who always want to write more but don't usually have the patience/discipline, to go at it fiercely without regard to the actual quality of the content. It's purely quantity that matters and thus it gets us in a habit of just writing, without worrying so much about WHAT we're writing.

I can't wait to get home & start writing again! Thank gosh my girl is sick so she can't distract me with that whole "sex" thing.

I think I labeled it as a some kind or literature thing. But it seems to be a comic romance of filmic proportions. Its actually based on a film I made in college, and fictionalizes a lot of the exterior travails about creating on a subject one knows nothing about. Hows about yours?

Right now I'm hinging on the sci-fi genre. Since I don't have to be concerned w/ quality, I don't have to worry as much about my usual problems I have writing for this genre, that being that I'm not terribly smart. Especially not in the science area of things. Plus I'm already working on a couple other stories that fall under the category of general fiction.

Some of the irony in my story is I was so concerned (and so is the main character) with the quality of the project and how he's trying to convey what the film is about, and here I go writing it where quality doesn't matter. Irony still isn't dead! I can't wait to write & read!

I'm wondering if maybe we should have a place where we post our works in progress.

There is probably much opportunity for humor in your story then, eh? I one saw a play that was hillarious. The play was actually about a play that was being completely botched by the actors. It was so hysterical to watch an entire play with actors "forgetting" their lines, bumping into things, etc. and wondering if the actors actually DID flub something if there would be any way of noticing it.

There should be some humour, but I'm not sure if it'll be complete amazement. My writing tends to be loaded with puns and plays on words. Its no wonder Heller is one of my favorite authors eh?

And I'm sure that play was funny! We have a local 2 man show that puts on "A Christmas Carol". The plot is there is a horrible snow storm, and only 2 of the cast shows up, so they must go on! As every part in the play! Hijinx ensue.

Thanks for the support Chris!

Awesome! I've been writing about a thousand words a day for the last three months. I'm up to 103,000 words now, which is like 450 pages, with no end in sight. It's nice to have some company.

As of this precise moment I'm up to 684 words, which has taken me approximately half hour to conjure. If I only I could write at this rate consitently, several hours a day.

If anyone has any disciplinary tactics to share, I'd be glad to hear.
