Squid wrote:*RE: the "showtuney" thing, his music has been described as "popera" which i think is pretty succinct. So if you like opera and grew up on musicals and folk singers (guilty as charged), it's just the ticket.
strange aside: of the myriad long winters converts i've made, all have also dug rw. go figure.

Yes! Rufus! Love the man. I just watched the bonus DVD from Want II - it's fascinating to watch him sing, it looks completely effortless

The Brunettes - hear them - know them - love them.

I just heard this fine New Zeland band when they opened tonight for Rilo Kiley..along with the aforementioned Okkervil River. They are truly great. There is a trumpet, a clarinet, a triangle, and a xylophone... oh my!

ah, triangle, more bands should use it.
not an easy instrument to play, though

I recommend Superchunk, Arlo, and The Weakerthans. There's so many more I could name, but of course that probably would take an eternity.

I didn't want to look on each of these pages.. I'm not one for patience.. when it comes to being online... So here are some suggestions.. even if they've been mentioned before. I'm truly sorry.

Sondre Lerche
The Constantines
Built To Spill
Beulah
Mates Of State
Pavement (CLEARLY!)
Jets to Brazil
Moneen
The Postal Service (another CLEARLY!)

I'm sorry.. sometimes I'm not indie enough for my own good.

I've heard several of the new Nada Surf tracks in live form, but I'm waiting for the rest...

In other reccomendations, the Pale Pacific EP, Rules Are Predictable, makes me very happy :)

Are any of you guys familiar with the Canadian group The Arcade Fire?
A really great CD, check it out.
Also, has anyone heard Teitur? I don't know much about him, but his CD is so relaxing and, um, pretty... for lack of a better word...

I heard there was an extra disc, but not of what type/what was on it. Any word on what's on this EP? B-sides? Live tracks? Drunken answering machine messages?

Any one of those three will justify purchase. Just as I've been told, this record does stick in your head, like spiderwebs in an unused corner.
