No swahili?
As I'm sitting here, waiting to finish my laundry, I check my profile on here and mosey to the Language section. Eager to see all the languages the message board supports, I am disappointed to find that English is the only language listed!
Well, excuse me hoity-toity Mr. god-like smarty pants. (Digression: Hey! Quick! What's that line from?)
What if my native language was Luganda? French? Portugese? Swahili?
Needless to say, I am mucho disappointed.

We believe that from a marketing standpoint it's more important to focus our multi-lingual efforts in areas where the Long Winters have a built -in appeal. That's why we're working hard to translate this entire website into foxychickese. Starting with Merlin's posts.
PS. I believe that 'Ichy-da' is 'cheers' in swahili.

to be boring and geeky here for a minute: they usually translate themselves by means of an ingenious contraption called a braille terminal. now aren't you delighted i told you that? *g* but i'd really like this to be translated into lingala, that would rock... :rolleyes smilie:

In my experience language is filtered by geography. Let me explain. Since Vienna is situated in the geographical heart of Europe languages have collided there and intermingled for centuries. This has produced and eloquent language for commerce, but precious little else. Witness: Vienna's lack of success in the last century in holding on even to Slovenia, let alone Hungary.
In contrast, as English moved across the American continent it became more and more refined by distance from the source and by the necessity for clarity until it reached it's most perfect form, and by extension the most perfect form of any language, in the dialect spoken by Alaskans.
