after hearing all your great songs (except for LSJ's which today download only an 8 Kb file, does this mean am I too late?) I'm so in awe again of anyone who makes that step to get their music out in the open. I have yet to decide if this will make me more encouraged to do so or more intimidated.
quite frankly, when I first read Jace's idea for a Tributarium (good name), I was of the persuasion that I sooner hear everyone's interesting own stuff than covers, but Breeze most definitely changed my mind.
However, so far, attempting to play covers has invariable gotten me distracted to the point of writing something myself. So perhaps I should give it a go - if my attempts at doing justice to a TLW song fail, I might walk away with a new song.
Grant, good luck with the Commander, I've found it is not the easiest song to sing.

You shouldn't be. I suggest trying it again, I checked the links and they should be working fine.
The video is coming along, and is the music for the couple of covers I'm involved with. I'm so excited! Go for it everybody!
Well, I'm intimidated by everyone's greatness, and lord knows I suck, but I am no welcher.
I've decided on 'Give Me A Moment', and I've even figured out chords. (Like that's so hard, but I'm a rusty novice here.)
Now, if someone could point me in the right direction for information on how to turn the horror that is me covering the
Long Winters into an MP3...I'm going to try using Audacity, but if anyone has a better idea...
We're supposed to make asses of ourselves, right? Great, then I'm off to a brilliant start!

Yes! Asses! I'm an ass man!
For recording/conversion to mp3 -- what kind of computer are you using, windows or mac? And what form is the song in now? Are you recording it to the computer, or are you using a 4track or something first, then loading *that* onto the computer?
-----------
I'm done with mine. It's here:
http://grantimatter.com/musicfiles/the_ ... inks_aloud
If that doesn't work properly, go here and navigate to "The Commander Thinks Aloud."
The voice on the radio is Wehrner Von Braun, off an old album called Journey to Infinity, telling us how now that we have the rocket, Man's dream of space is over... it is now a reality. That album also provided the count-up and crashing launch noise. The electric guitar I sampled off Pink Floyd's "Astronomy Domine," and the beeping at the beginning and the end is from Telstar telemetry. Consistency, consistency, consistency. I'm playing guitar and cello.

You've got a great voice. I, uh, just thought I'd tell you that.
Have you ever been on Songfight? You sound familiar....

Thanks Grant. I'm not aware of Songfight though...
I submit to you all:
Carparts

Karosume, Grant is right, you do have a nice voice! I noticed it on It'll Be A Breeze: you sound like a very strong Kevin Hearn. And that's pretty awesome.
Grant, I really liked your cover! I like the way you handled the vocals especially.
I feel so lame only being able to give you updates on our progress instead of mp3's!
I might need some help though, the video might be a bit big to simply throw up on a Geocities site. since it'll probably be the full 4 minutes, that'll be pretty big. Any suggestions?

Put it in a really small window?
----
Songfight is, well, it's like amihotornot for songs, sort of. Only... you get a topic/title, and you have 1 week to write and record.
There are more answers over here.
-----
I want more songs! I love the rhythm on Carparts. Almost Nick Cave-y.

gee guys, you are awefully fast, gives us break.
and good too, which makes it eerier still.
if I still dare to submit - and if so, it will definitely be on the 'points for effort' side of the scale - it will take a couple of weeks still, so practice your patience in the meantime
ah, I finally got the infamous LSJ tracks to work, sounds like you had a hell of a lot of fun bashing your boss there!

The reson why that song works so well is because Digital Jim wasn't my boss. He wasn't anybody's boss. He thought he was the boss but he was just another soldier in the trenches.
You bet your sweet bippy I had a great time making fun of him!
And don't worry about speed! I won't have much of mine finished until closer to the end of the month!
