The Producers

Postby Jessie » Tue Nov 29, 2005 10:56 am

I cant wait until this movie comes out! I loved the original (still haven't seen the play) and from what I've seen on the previews it looks like they did a fabulous job with it!

So....how about you?

I thought this was going to be an opportunity to vote for Chris Walla.

I'm totally going to this. I've always been a huge fan of the original. I've been eagerly awaiting it ever since I heard they were re-making it. I never got a chance to see the play, even though I was in New York when Lane and Broderick were tearing it up on Broadway, but tickets had been sold out for months, and scalped tickets were going for like over $500.

Yay! Another fan!
Aww, that would have been awesome to see Broderick and Lane when they were on Broadway. There's an off-broadway cast touring now, and they'll be here in town within the next few months. I think one of the guys from Desperate Houswives is in the cast, haha. But ya...I'm totaly going to see it.

I cannot wait to see the film. I loved the original, and Matthew Broderick is one of my favorite actors!

I don't necessarily have high hopes for the movie, but I did see nathan lane and matthew broderick on broadway, and I'm not too proud (by a margin) to say that I did speak with broderick outside of the stage door (yes, I know, but what else do you do when you are in new york and at a crappy hotel around the corner) and it was an amazing experience even though I generally hate musicals.

I stood in line while writing a philosphy paper in 2001? or something and ended up getting tickets. a friend was at the urta's (theatre grad school thing) and I was there because I orignally intended to audition and then made other plans but went on the trip anyway. to make a long story short, the musical really was great, although the film...I'm skeptical... and broderick really was genuinely nice (you can't really fake it to that degree).

I've been in love with Mattew Broderick for ages! Lucky you aj..getting to meet him!

I am a little worried too that the movie may not turn out as good as I'm expecting it to. I usually get dissapointed when it comes to things like this (books or plays being turned into movies). Not a whole lot of success has ever come from something like that. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see, eh?! ;)

AJ met Matthew Broderick???

I've been in love with him since the moment he hacked that payphone in War Games.

*swoon*

ps: Don't suppose anyone gave in to nostalgia and bought the IMSAI Series Two when it came out?

I have higher hopes for the film version, considering the theatre musical is adaptation of the film musical in the first place. Besides, look how freakin beautiful Chicago was!

I don't generally like musicals either, but I have faith in Mel Brooks. The original movie wasn't a musical though. Sure it was based on the fictional musical Spring Time For Hitler, but the movie itself was no musical.

That's true. I hadn't really thought about that before, actually.
This new one isn't a musical either is it?
