Wouldn't it be lack-of-tooth aches?

Gaping jaw hole aches.

Hope you are doing the warm salt water gargle to avoid the dry socket... I did, but a buddy didn't and said dry socket is like going through the proceedure again, sans novacaine, all day and all night.

And that don't sound like fun.

dry socket, now that's something I've never heard of. Sounds horrible though, so gargle, Sour, please gargle.

This thread is depressing. Haha.

I've been rinsing with salt water lots today. It tastes awful. :p

I'm going to have to, but they haven't given me the syringe yet! So just plain old warm salt water for now.

right, that wiki-link just made me decide I'm never going to have my last wisdom tooth removed. Even if the latin name has a ring to it. Yikes.

wisdom teeth history

Postby bijou » Thu Aug 17, 2006 7:35 am

i got mine out about twenty years ago...yeah that's right, i am THAT old! i was so wrecked on percocet...i am small and have absolutely no physical tolerance for alcohol or drugs...that when my roommate offered me a cigarette, i couldn't lift my arm to reach for it...i looked at it, and it just layed there...sorry you were gypped hard in the pain management category!!!

I'm much better today. More of a dull ache than a throbbing pain. But my gums are turning white! What's going on with that?

That's not a bad thing. As long as they're not creating any pressure on the jaw or impacting with the molars, you'll have four more teeth than I. Consider yourself lucky.

I am pretty sure they need to be ripped out, but I was afraid of it BEFORE reading all this junk.
It'll happen eventually, I'm sure.

Don't Wikipedia what happens if you don't get them taken out, then. That shit is worse.

Let's just say it involves a whole in your face. IN YOUR FACE.

you must not have had the best experience if you were/are having to drink smoothies.

i had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time. i was knocked out, it was awesome. i woke up as if time had passed in a second and was talking up a storm. later that day i ate a sandwich. i felt gipped since i bought all this soft stuff to eat and didn't even need it.
the best part was the valium before hand. sadly they only prescribe you one to take before you go in.

and i'm going to have to have a talk w/the tooth fairy. i never even thought about that. i still have all 4 of them in the little packet they give you. mine all came out whole. i think that's why my experience went so well.

I didn't get a valium. :(

And I didn't get any of my teeth, either. I'm pretty sure they were all smashed into little tiny pieces before / as they were extracted.

I had scrambled eggs for dinner last night. That ended up not being such a hot idea.

i'm really sorry to hear it's not going well. if your teeth were impacted they would have to break them up to get them out. that is when it can be rough. eventho mine went so well i still feel for you because i have seen quite a few people go thru it and i know it can be awful. :(
