A milestone! So so sad that its meaning has been stolen by spambots.

Look Betty, if you don't want to watch my Shakira porn movie, that's just fine, okay? I mean, I posted that just for you. Damn.

How about some Jessica Alba?

ha, so you were the one that also posted that Shakira vid on the Centro board, huh? Painstakingly sussing out the thread that had the video for Triggers and Trashheaps in it, so the video theme wasn't broken. Neat!

And Betty, don't be too pessimistic, I bet the people who registered once yet never visit anymore outnumber the spam (ab)users.

By the way, we also passed the 25.000 articles threshold, although I'm not quite sure when.

100th member

Postby What Pancakes Do » Tue Oct 17, 2006 3:01 am

Hooray, I think I was the 100th member of TLW flickr group!

I would like to introduce myself to the board. I am a big fan of The Long Winters and John Roderick. I've been reading the board for a few weeks now and would love to be a part of it. I've been listening to TLW since 2003 and recently saw them at ACL and at the show in Houston 3 days later. Seeing them live and meeting them cemented my adoration.

So, nice to y'all!

Stephanie

Ironically, the 100th Flikr member gets a prize... PANCAKES!!!

Unfortunately, you have to make them yourself with our own ingredients... and put some of those small chocolate chips in 'em.

Hello everyone!

The name comes from some ridiculous stories I sent John about receiving cooking lessons at work from an angry 74 year old woman. It is hard to explain how my e-mails naturally evolved in that direction though. Well, one lesson dissolved into her badgering me with the question "what do pancakes do?". When I didn't know what pancakes did, she yelled, "They're pancakes, What do you think they do?!?". She eneded up getting so fed up that she wouldn't let me cook pancakes that morning.

The good new is that she eventually taught me how to make pancakes and I have it down now, although I have never tried putting chocolate chips in them. Even better, John's reactions to the stories crack me up. He suggested I write down every crazy episode at work for a book called, "What Pancakes Do."

So there you have it, if the I wasn't already hooked by the music, I've now been charmed into mild Long Winters addiction by meeting John. I've a question as well, I joined flickr and added "longwinters" and "johnroderick" tags to my pictures. How long until they show up in the pool or is there a further step I need to take to ensure they do?

Thanks,
Stephanie

If you want them to show up in a group pool you've got to use the "Send to Group" feature, which I believe is located above each photo or you can do it as a batch with the organize tool.

Well, I think the answer is, when they are ready to be flipped over, they form bubbles around the edges. A more appropriate question would have been, "What do pancakes do when they are ready to be flipped over?". That is not how it went down though.

The book, 'What Pancakes Do' would include various tales from my current employment at a homeless shelter for youth. Apparently, in hindsight, many of my experiences there contain comedic elements. Maybe the book will have to get written now that it has two potential readers. Hooray!
