I'm having a problem with Kate Bush covers lately. It started with Placebo's striking fan-based video but has been replaced by Les July, bass artiste.
Just listening, over and over.
Amazing.

More YouTube music:
Diamanda Galas singing "Gloomy Sunday"
Listen twice. She's using a different translation from the original Hungarian than the famous, Billie Holiday version.
Check the sidebar here for more info on the song's history.

Yay! Grant likes the Good Life! :)
I have been listening to that disc all week, virtually non-stop. Some of the songs were "growers", but I adore it. Didn't know that the streaming site only does two at a time...I've never heard of any streaming site doing that, but I guess it makes some sort of sense. *scratches head*

Okkervil River's new album, anybody? It's called 'The Stage Names' and is definitely their poppiest album to date. I think it's brilliant, but I don't think Will Sheff could do any wrong in my eyes.
My favorite tracks right now are "Unless It's Kicks," "A Hand to Take Hold of the Scene," and "John Allyn Smith Sails."
I also just saw them in Seattle and would rank their show as one of the three best in my life.

The new Okkervil River's a fine piece of plastic! I saw them opening night of this tour in Albuquerque and it was a great show (long set, good opener, even an interesting cover of Neil Young's Albuquerque in the encore).
I've also been loving the not-so-new Jim Noir, 'Tower of Love' and (of course) Vanderslice's 'Emerald City.' Need to diversify my listening habits a little, I think...

So, basically, what you're all saying to me is that a) I should go early to the John Vanderslice show tonight and make sure I see all three bands (JV, 2 Gallants, Bishop Allen) and b), I should also make sure I bring enough batteries/minidiscs to tape all three bands.
