Band member usernames?

Postby Patr!ck » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:02 pm

I was wondering about the band members user names so I know who's saying what. I know that John's is "John, King God, Mang". Jonathon Rothman's is "jrothman", as his first post was posted while this was being typed up. What about Eric and Nabil?

Is Merlin, Kaiser of Nerds someone in the band?

I think Eric is Eric - but I don't know if he's ever posted? I'm pretty sure Nabil is too busy checking his e-mail to sign up for this forum (heh). Sean is Sean Nelson, former keyboardist and Harvey Danger frontman. The New Math is former drummer Michael Schorr. As established, John is John.

Not really a band member, but John's sister used to post here as SLR (if I don't have my wires crossed). She was a cool cat that disappeared a couple of years ago.

Eric made a grand total of 11 posts, which is quite a lot since he was hired to be the quiet guy in the first place. His brother posted a few times though; as I seem to recall he called Eric a music snob, but one with good taste.
Michael (Schilling, first drummer) posted only three times though, so Eric wins hands down.

Merlin is not in the Long Winters, but hosts the website and this board, and hosts the band whenever they are in SF, I think. Photos of cigars come to mind, here. If you want to know what he does, check out his website 43folders.com.

Cool. Didn't know about Eric's brother or Mr. Schilling. Even I learn something new!

Sort of off topic, but merlin has a pretty neat interview with John Vanderslice up at http://www.themerlinshow.com/.

So I guess he has his own show, as well.

I've been enjoying his show, plus the JV one has a Dianna shout out.

We are positive that's Michael Schilling, with a 'c', right??

Right after I read this thread, I read a story on MSN about this year's R&RHoF inductees, written by one Michael Shilling, with no 'c'. I thought, 'Where have I just seen that name?!' Ha.

As for my motivation for sharing this moment of personal idiocy with you lot...damned if I know. Narf.

Darn.
I always, always misspell Michael SHILLING's name. I blame Peter Schilling, 80's German singer of the song Major Tom, which I incidentally loved to death, cheesy as it is. Völlig losgelöst von der Erde, schwebt das Raumschiff völlig schwerelos

Yeah, it's spelled 'Shilling' on the LW site, too, and it says he's a writer! I wonder if he wrote that article!

Anyway, here it is.

you know what, I slipped, too. I read Heather's post as "we are positive that's NOT Michael Schilling with sch etc." That's why I replied the way I did.
Looks like we're even!

Which was so totally unexpected that I had to back up the video and listen to it again to make sure I wasn't imagining things.

I did the same thing when I heard them talking about me, but in my case I was imagining things.

I remember at the last Long Winters show, I was telling Nabil that Dianna and I were meeting for the first time outside words on The Long Winters board, to which he replied "We have a message board?" Also, he didn't know that Ben Gibbard was the one who played drums on "Carparts". Tsk tsk.
