wow! thats some good luck! looks nice :)
i actually want to work on a sleeve myself, but im not entirely sure of what yet. i've bounced a few ideas around my head, but i keep coming back to something with a lot of negative space. i thought about a mark ryden piece, either a mural of different things, or one big one..
also the idea of deep space, something i've always been fascinated with.

I have my next appointment on September 6th. We are actually close to finishing the background of my back piece (which actually goes all the way down to the back of my knees). It will probably be a little under a year or so before the whole back piece is finished. Still no pictures of it yet; probably will not take any until the back piece is complete.

Are you going to the convention again this year, Squid, or is one year enough?

hey kaiden, was hoping you would jump in and give us an update! The whole thing sounds like an incredible experience, especially given the artist.

Oh - and I am very much planning on going to the convention again this year, provided something stupid doesn't happen at work that forces me to work over the weekend. I want to support those guys as much as I can. Are you going?

h4ck, the deep space idea sounds really cool.

I do not know if I am going, actually. It is tough. I travel down to San Jose specifically to be tattooed but obviously I cannot get an appointment while the convention is taking place. I would have to come down specifically for it or work something out where I am tattooed during the convention (as a demonstration of hand-shading - do they do that?) or the day before. I really want to go but I do not know how feasible it is.

The nice thing about the way Horitaka and Horitomo have to work to do big pieces is that they have a waiting list to become a client and then once you are a client you have first crack at the schedule so you never have to wait more than a month to get more work done. It would suck to have to wait 10 months for every session.

I like your little flower but it is so small! I am kind of spoiled when it comes to tattoos though :P Also, your friend looks just like my cousin. It is scary.

Maybe it IS your cousin. Mwahahaha!

Yeah it is very small, esp. relative to the last thing I did, but significant because a) it was girly bonding moment and b) it was my virgin appendage! that arm has been totally blank til now. It fit coz if I did decide to sleeve out the other arm, sakura blossoms are the way to go (spring flower to balance fall flowers of existing sleeve)

RE: con, there was definitely someone getting hand tapped at the con, and I'm fairly certain it was Horitomo? It's not til october, so hopefully there would be time to set something up now. That would be very cool, I would love to try having that type of work done.

Can you record a sound sample? I'd love to hear how the Epiphone Casino's sound these days. They're pretty sexy.

I love how this somehow turned into a "Recent guitar purchases" thread.

I have no idea how to record and post a decent sample, but I will look into it.

The only problem with getting a new guitar (and I mean ONLY) is that you don't get to shop for guitars anymore. It's kinda fun hitting up every guitar/music/pawn shop in the midwest and scouring the interwebs.

jealous. i've been driving around a rental for almost 2 weeks now and have become too attached to it. it's so nice driving a new car. it's a nissan altima and i wouldn't buy it for myself but if i was given one i wouldn't complain.

today i bought a magazine, a latte, and a donut. :)

Yeah, y'all came this close to having a picture of two bagels and five donuts right here right now.

This is *high living* in this household.

Is that a Civic Hybrid?

just a regular Civic... at 36 mpg normally, it seemed a little silly to pay 5,000 more for 5-10 extra mpg.

You're missing out on some really cool lights, though.

And very silent stops at stop signs.

Funny this should be the topic.

Today my car was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I paid 2000 for the car, and repairs would run about 2400. I'm looking into new cars and I was considering buying a Honda. What are the goods and bads about owing a Honda?

Y'know, $4,400 is still a good price for a car.....

My Honda has been quite reliable and very gas efficient. It's basically at the time of its life when I should be replacing the power pack, which I know will be expensive, so I've been putting off taking it to the shop for far too long. And yet it perseveres.

The bumpers are in pretty bad shape - they're plastic - but I think that's just how cars are nowadays.

Before the hybrid, I owned a series of Volkswagens from the 80s. I'm more of a used junker driver by temperament, but felt like chipping in to whatever hybrid market share would emerge in the early 00s. I never owned a car made in the 1990s.

My advice for buying a car is if you want a new car, why not just get a barely used one at Carmax? Big savings, little difference. They even smell new.

my car called it quits too. it was temporarily revived but that only lasted a few days. so i am also in the market for a new car. a honda is not on my list of affordability tho.
