While soup suitableness should be a factor, you can clarify your favorite below if you feel the need even though everyone already knows spirals are the best.

I didn't read your post before I voted, and voted more for pasta and less for soup. I voted for shapes, because I love, love, love Kraft Dinner -- especially when they made them in Super Mario Bro.'s shapes! I don't know what it is about the noodles they use for those shapes, but mmm mmmm good!

Well, the post was inspired by the cookbook post in Swoon, and I wonder what pasta it calls for? I expected people to think of spaghetti, but how could I forget about mac'n'cheese?!

I know what you are saying though....and I couldn't agree more, I don't know what they do, but I prefer the mac'n'cheese from the kraft box to any other mac'n'cheese, better than homemade, probably even better than the fancy Swanky Mac'n'Cheese in the post.

my idea of rockn'roll pasta is the naked chef (do you get Jamie Oliver in the US?) making some wickedly delish italian pasta, and penne is the best for sucking up the sauce.

I must say I'm slightly curious about american mac'n cheese, but I suspect the taste is miles away from the dutch macaroni with cheese and ham that my mum used to make. With elbows, because that was the only pasta sold in my childhood days. Hm, and then the leftover macaroni would be reheated with butter and sugar, gorgeous.

hmmm....I choose the spirals (aka Rotini) because of thier impressive sauce holding abilities. And cuteness. I have never tried them with butter and sugar....now that's a first!

I throw the cheese-powder away, and use real melted cheddar...

That's what I'm talking about. When they make the pasta into those types of shapes ... *drool*

I wonder if noodles can be custom made? Given the minestrone recipe, I'm thinkin' history making long winters schwag; I don't think even Elvis has Elvis Noodles.

Can you make beard shaped noodles? Or maybe big glasses? Or maybe various carparts? Or maybe Jonathan Rothman?
