DIY Sputnik

Postby Squid » Mon Oct 22, 2007 8:01 am

I'm useless at CD swaps so I've been reading up on other hobbies. To wit, our friends at the BBC query:

In 2007, how hard would it be to build a fully working Sputnik in the comfort of your own living room?

They've housed theirs in a biscuit tin. I'm thinking it would be real indie to use a metal lunchbox...provided Homeland Security doesn't get wind and confiscate my science, yo.

(Grant, did you write a song for Sputyushka's 50th?)

Ladies, there is room in our nerdy hearts for two kinds of geeking out.

If we were to make this sputnik, how to we get it into space? Do we want to do that?
