Anonymous v. Scientology

Postby grant » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:18 pm

Has anyone here been keeping track of the latest flare-up of the internet's long-running war with the Church of Scientology?

I've been absolutely hypnotized by it, but I've kind of got a horse in this race.

I'm wondering what other people make of it.

If you need a quick catch-up, I suppose this propaganda video would do. (The McPherson story is true, and actually worse than the brief summary in there.)

Wow... apparently I have been hiding under an internets rock and not heard of this.

Is there a way for me to sign up and not have Tom Cruise come to my house wielding a bike chain?

Seriously, though, that Scientology stuff freaks me out. Granted, I'm not a big fan of religion at all, but I really don't get that one. I mean, how many Christians would there be if Jesus was quoted as saying "The best way to make a million dollars is to start a religion".

Someone in Anonymous has produced a rather nice three-fold flyer called "Why Am I Wearing A Mask?" but your question makes a much more succinct answer.

There's more information than would choke a dozen goats at http://forums.enturbulation.org, if you're really interested. Some of it is utterly fascinating.

According the movie "Stigmata", the disciple, Paul, did...

I find that the most shocking piece of this is how many people have acheived "meritorius" status by giving over $ 1million to Keep Scientology Working.

(The most notable, of course, being the voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy Cartwright, who I believe has given $10M...)

Ps: Forgive me, I must be catty: if Scientology is powerful enough to generate "assists" that allow practicioners to do things like heal car accident victims with brainwaves, why - exactly - would Kirstie Allen need to employ a weightloss system like Jenny Craig? Apparently doughnuts are the new Kryptonite here on Battlefield Earth...

All this conversation about Scientology is going to get this message board noticed by Scientology and then we're all going to get closed down and flamed and "fair gamed". I, for one, already have too many black sedans parked across the street from my house.

this would explain the severe rise of spam users - there might be secret messages in user names like xoahoheikam, roskejoija and woksloujofaso.

Grant is still missing, huh? It's been a few days. *shrug*

Oh! Did you know there is a scientology sponsored museum in LA called PSYCHIATRY: INDUSTRY OF DEATH. It's true!
