Baked goods and black metal mixed with some great writing and a dash of funny... I just had to share this blog with you guys.

http://theblackoven.blogspot.com

The whole blog (4 or 5 posts so far) is great, but this recipe in particular made me bookmark it:

http://theblackoven.blogspot.com/2008/03/frostbitten-molasses-cookies-entombed.html

"Boiled down to its very essence, metal is nothing more than a mixture of molasses and alienation. By that definition, these cookies are black fucking metal. Packed full of grim and evil spices, they will leave you feeling despondent and isolated within their stronghold of flavor."

I am making these as soon as figure out where you buy crystallized ginger pieces.

Thanks! I might look around a bit before buying candy online, but at least I now know it's a type of candy!

You can get it at most Asian markets - chunks of ginger preserved in sugar. Popular snack item.
