Is anyone here participating in Mozilla's Download Day 2008? They're trying to set the world's record for most download in 24 hours with their newly released Firefox 3. It's supposedly going to be the fastest browser EVER. We'll see, anyway. But yeah...

Check out this YouTube video here for only a couple of reasons why you should download Firefox if you're still on IE.

Done and done. Thanks for the heads up. I likes the Firefox.

it would be nice if it became a bit faster, I only have 4 add-ons and my Firefox is slower than IE now... still I like it so much more that i put up with the speed thing.

I'm surprised Firefox itself didn't prompt me to download 3.0

Because they're trying to break some record thing, theyre only able to track downloads through the website. In order to encourage people to go to the site to help break the record, they have made it only avaible through direct download for the next day or something.

I put in a brand new stick of 2GB ram, and then installed FireFox 3.0. So I'm not sure if it's running significantly faster because of the doubling of ram, or because 3.0 actually is fast -- but I have noticed an increase.

Some default settings are driving me crazy, though. Namely, my mouse scroll wheel changes the size of the fonts and images on the page. I definitely see the usefulness of this option, but I prefer to use it to scroll from top to bottom within a page... and out of force of habit, I keep making every page shrink! YIKES! (EDIT: Problem solved!)

Otherwise, no complaints yet. Adblock no longer works, so I grabbed Adblock Plus. And my theme I had didn't work, but the new one for 3.0 looks a lot like the one I was using anyway. And is it just me, or are the back and forward buttons missing? (EDIT: nope. Just mine. It's all good now!)

I put 3.0 on the computer at work and may d/l 3.0 onto the laptop just to help them get the record, but I'm not sure I'll install it here just yet...

My biggest issue with 3.0 is the change to the pull down url list. I have the 20 or so websites that I regularly visit in there and just use that in lieu of bookmarking everything and 3.0 completely changes the layout of that (and adds both the website title as well as the url, thus taking up 2x the space while giving me redundant information). The little "favorites/most visited" list on the left navigation of 3.0 doesn't really serve the same function because it seems to track individual pages from a given domain (so I'd have Cattywampus as well as Give Me a Moment and Swoon whereas by the old system I simply had the main bb navigation).

Plus the navigation buttons look like something that should be found on a mac (eew! ;). That can be fixed with a theme, but I'm not sure if the url list can (or if such a theme exists yet, surely I can't be the only one using 2.0 the way I do? or am I just that weird? Don't answer that :).

I'm going to hold off until I know there's no security issues...
My friend said he uses beta 4, which is supposedly just as good...
