Shameless Self Promotion IV. Not improvised at all.

Postby grant » Wed Aug 24, 2011 7:28 am

Hi.

I have been making a new thing. A thing that combines science, music and poetry.

It's me and it's Kate Horowitz of Things Written Down.

Our first thing - which I think is small but wonderful - is over here: http://squidprocrow.bandcamp.com/track/ ... -graduates

There are a few more things - also small, also full of wonder - on their way.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

Thanks very much! We're actually dealing with a great violist for one of the upcoming things we're working on.

And here is this thing - I wound up having to fake a viola part by myself.

It is called Barnard's Star and is based on the fact that Ann Druyan sent a copy of her brainwaves while feeling all in-love-with-Carl-Sagan into deep space aboard the Voyager probe.

Which is a really beautiful thing, if you think about it. The ultimate message in a bottle.

I'm not sure what I should be calling these things - word music? ambient spoken word?

Anyone got any other ideas?
