My records are alfabetically ordered, so on one side it's Lizard Music - Fashionably Lame (bought on the basis of the artwork of the cd-booklet, didn't even know the name of the band - but there was a song about Johnny Depp on it, so I couldn't go too wrong) and on the other Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye cds.

If I had TLW on vinyl it would have been Lone Justice and Maria McKee, and splitting those two up would not do, of course.
And if there had been that collection of singles, it would have been Lone Justice - Wheels and The Lotus Eaters - You Don't Need Someone New.

Right, back to nerdhood now.

I'm painting my room right now, so my records are a MESS. Though right now both albums are next to Radiohead's "Hail to the theif", DCFC's "we have the facts and we're voting yes", The mars Volta "De-loused in the comatorium", Hot Hot Heat "Makeup the breakdown", Reel Big Fish "Turn the radio off" and Harvey Danger "King James Version". All of which are quality painting music. =)

My cds are in my car so I can't say what they are next right this moment. The mp3 versions that I listen to inside my house are alphabetical between Lizst and Lucinda Williams.

But much more interesting is where the cases live. I just checked out of curiosity and TWYCDIH is right inbetween Billy Holiday's "Lady's Decca Days" (one of the very best albums I own) and The Shaggs "Philosphy of the World" (possibly the worst album ever made. I can't rationally explain why I like it).

WIPTF case/cd is visiting a friend in preparation for friday's show.

TWYCDIH is in my case between Fishbone - Give a Monkey a Brain and He'll Swear He's the Center of the Universe and the Sweeney Todd - Original Cast Recording. The pages fell out of the case, so it's pretty disheveled right now.

Not to get too off-topic here, but isn't the new MP album (MPIII) going to be released on our beloved Barsuk? Maybe that was just a rumor.

And yes, my entire collection (nearing 200) is alphabetized. Glad to see there are other, equally-neurotic fans out there. Undiagnosed OCD'ers unite!

My entire collection of 1,200+ is alphabetised, and also alphabetised within artist, though I know those slightly more geeky than me (there is such a thing, I swear) are prone to going chronological at that point.
So please, no one act like it's a bad thing to keep yr CDs neurotically organised, or I'm going to go crawl under a rock.

Insofar as surrounding artists go, the CDs are lined up:
> Little Champions
> Little Red Rocket (x2)
> Lois
> the Long Winters (x2)
> Longpigs (ooh, throwback to my Britpop-only days)
> Love and Rockets (ditto)

Favourite part of the collection, though, has to go to:
> Ida (x6)
> Insane Clown Posse (x26)
> the (International) Noise Conspiracy
> Iron & Wine (x2)
> Ja Rule (x2)

Yeah, that's right. I'm an indie rock girl juggalo.
And I leave for the DCFC/TLW mini-tour in less than twenty-four hours.

Mine are counter-chronological, last one on the left, first one on the right - even if there's just two. However, my burned SAM cd is left of WIPTF, even though the gig was before the release of the cd, but that's because I made the gig cd later. I hate it when my husband puts records back in another order, but I suppose that's not exactly fair when the order exists only in my mind.
I resent to be called neurotic, mind!

We get strange looks sometimes because we haven't mixed our collections (each about 200-300 cds and 200-300 vinyl), but for all the love and commitment in the world would I not take that step. The only reason some of his cds are in my collection, is that he runs out of space when I still have some ;-)

Yea, that's how i had mine until it got so full the pages burst out and went all over the place in the car. It used to go, at the very beginning:

2 Harvey Danger CDs chronologically
2 Long Winters CDs chronologically
(I had them across from eachother on a page so it was like both were first.)

then 4 Cake CDs chronologically then all the Foo Fighters and then Reel Big Fish and a bunch of other stuff then soundtracks went after all of them in the order that i liked them best to least, plays followed by movies, then mixes chronologically by when i made them with the ones that were made for me at the end by how much i liked the person that made it. It was great until the explosion. Now I just feel like a raving loon.

I almost didn't reply to this because my cd's are so scattered and unorgainized, it's shameful. I was actually carrying around 'When I Pretend To Fall' in my purse, along with The Appleseed Cast 'Mare Vitalis' and Chin Up Chin Up until I finally took everything out and cleaned my purse (it was so gross). Then someone mentioned mp3's and I don't know why I didn't think of that.

They start with 'The' so they're in the T's:
