bring in the SWAP team

Postby Liesbeth » Wed Nov 26, 2003 11:20 am

I know there's plenty of people here who love music, and who love to get to know new music. But I don't know if anyone is interested in a thing like a mix swap: you make a mix cd or tape for someone else who does the same for you.

The general idea is that if you would like to make a mix tape or cd, you let me know (reply or pm me). If enough people want to participate (it basically takes at least two) I'll pair everyone up and let you know who will benefit from your music taste. You then sort out between yourselves if there's anything you hate or would love and where to send your mix.

To give and to get, a perfect thing with the holiday season coming up, isn't it?
If you like this idea, let yourselves be known (and please add if you have a preference for making / receiving CD or tape).

I wasn't thinking of any deep analysis before matching, but before I draw from hat, cap or any old head garment, I'd need to know if anyone wants to be in a hat in the first place...

I'm in. My dad and I have been doing that lately. We call it a "cultural exchange."

the hat is still warm from being worn (it's freezing here, all of a sudden) and ready for drawing names, so that will happen soon.
if anyone else wants to take part, please post soon

Count me in, too. My semester's over next Monday, which gives me plenty of time to rock a mix.

(In case you couldn't tell, I'm pretty much counting the days for this to be over. The concept of reading for pleasure is lost on me now. 7 more days...)

Great idea. I'd like to join the SWAP-team.
Thing is, I'm away untill January 5th, but after that the game is on.

PS: does anybody have any good tips - what to see & what to do Lonely Planetstylee - on Louisiana in general and New Orleans in particular?

1. The Voodoo Museum. Not the one with the Chickenfoot name, the other one.

2. Breakfast at Petunia's. It's on the street in the Quarter that's four in from Canal, and about four in from the riverfront. Here, the corner of Bourbon and St. Louis.

3. Lunch at Mother's, at the corner of Tchoupitoulas (Chew TOOL as) and Poydras.

4. Wander through the Garden District. The cemetaries are lovely.

bring on the swap

Postby Liesbeth » Fri Dec 12, 2003 2:51 am

okay, after some nights of musical entertainment I'm ready to draw names.
cool to see so many of you interested in this.

to help those of us with an inclination to laziness (that would be me, for one) I'm gonna set a deadline: send out your mix before the end of January or MacGyver will come round and replace your record collection with slick 80's compilations

here's how fate has dealt the cards:
lovesickjerk - heathalouise
bladerunner - dez
grant - midori
betty felon - no pic
smellikelime - liesbeth

please pm your match and sort out between yourselves what, how and and where.

and don't forget the ground rule of the SWAP team: have fun!
