Has anyone else heard of this band? I love their cd, and just was curious if anyone else had had the chance to give them a listen.

I have mixed feelings about them. That "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" song has been everywhere from the radio, to iPod commercials to the Madden 2004 video game. I'm starting to get sick of it. I'll admit, it is catchy as all hell, but the lyrics are crap. I haven't heard any of their other stuff though.

I hate Jet, so I'll appease you:

you're stupid.

(upon edit i see how this could be taken as offensive, it wasn't meant to be that offensive, but i really do loathe Jet because the music is boring, the lyrics are retarded, and the fact that they got their start from selling their song on a commercial doesn't bode well with me for any band.)

I was sketchy on them at first, but dammit if that single wasn’t so catchy that I couldn’t stand it any longer. I had to have it. At first I wasn't too sure of the CD but was thrilled that the single wasn't misleading of their sound like many singles can be when introducing a band to the masses. It took a couple listens but I ended up liking it quite a bit. I wouldn't say I LOVE it or that it's the greatest CD ever but I do enjoy it a lot. The CD sounds like all the good old rock bands. It's blatant, I could spot it all right off. I never found tho that I was screaming what a rip off band they are. They aren’t doing anything new, but that’s fine by me. I was just happy to find something I liked and didn't end up disappointed by the CD. And my 6 year old likes them too.

They're decent, and the album is enjoyable. There is much to improve as far as musicianship. Also, too much similarity between specific songs and specific bands. It's almost as though they were in the writing process and decided that this song was to sound exactly like _______. Maybe that's exactly how they did it, I don't know. Still, lots of good licks in it, and it's fun to listen to.

I liked them like I liked the Vines. For about 4 seconds. Though the Vines' lyrics are as trite, its more enoyable cause they scream them. Whereas Jet's are just annoying. You really oughtn't come in come in.

my mom loves them, i've overheard the cd enough to know that all anybody else needs to hear is one of there songs to know the band inside and out (i wouldn't wish the rest of their album upon anybody else).

I had a passing like for The Vines altho I found their CD confused and not as enjoyable as I find Jet. But what really killed The Vines for me was a big article on them in Rolling Stone. I was totally disgusted and found that my only want in life was to smack that lead singer.

although normally i would be on the side of any band that named itself after a paul mccartney song, this band jet rubs me all wrong. though i have worked hard to curtail my snobbery against hit songs, theirs is totally odious, because it is a mathematically precise rip-off of two very great things: iggy pop's "lust for life" (only the rhythm and feel, if not the exact chord progression), and jack white (vocal delivery). there is nothing else going on in the song. i heard some of the rest of their record and it was okay, but every time i hear the hit, i want to climb up on the water tower.
