I've just finished an all-covers mixtape for Fi. I'll be reviewing it tonight to make sure it all works. I believe I avoided Dread Zeppelin, and did manage to throw in a few works by (and performed by) a few less-than-widely-known 60s bands, as well as some more recent things. It's nice when Sonic Youth and Dolly Parton can be thematically (and sonically) linked.

My wife's been "testing" Liesbeth's mix tape in the car for the last 2 weeks. I keep telling her she's going to wear it out.

C-dogg's tape is in its final rounds of testing, as it seems Elbow is going to be, well elbowed out of the mix. Poor British guys. Not getting any respect since Coldplay.

Elbow didn't make it onto mine, either. Oh well. The only one I regret is Mission of Burma- I got the CD after I finished my mix.

We may have to include in our lists the songs that got "Elbowed" out.

Well now I feel like a slacker...I just finished the move and got the tape deck unpacked this AM, so the bad news is the mix tape is far more tape than mix at the moment, but the good news is that in the midst of cleaning/packing/driving/unpacking I had plenty of time to ponder & collect some tunes so hopefully A_K's tape will be nearing completion in a day or two...

Midori, I've been slacking! I've got a list of potentials, but that's still as far as I've gotten.

When's the deadline, midsummer night? I'm assuming that's June-ish...
I'll get to it, and it'll be wonderful, I promise.

Well yours is in about the same state :-)
I'll try to get started tonight though.

Is that a reference to the Eve/Gwen Stefani song you put on there?

Dolly, hoorAY!

I will wrap Grant's up by the weekend, one of the tracks I'm sure that will be on there at this point is This Is Serious, Mum's wonderful number, "He'll Never Be An Old Man River (I'm On The Drug That Killed River Phoenix)". But it won't be _all_ quirk. I swear. I'm tempted to put our Posies cover on there. hmm.

Sure, why not. I enjoy good covers as much as the next person (just none of that horrific Jessica Simpson-ized Take My Breath Away that my little sister has taken a liking to...aah! make it stop...).

Actually most of the covers I like you may not even know the originals of (I certainly don't) so you probably won't even notice.

I'm still finishing a mix for my husband for our wedding anniversary (think Hi-Fidelity, I've spent the past month getting it just right, and am not sure about the sequencing yet - this sure is a labour of love), so after Sunday I will start on your tape, AK.
