and here i thought i was the only person who thought there was a ridiculous amount of raisins in raisin bran.Betty Felon wrote:Occasionally I branch out from my twigs into Raisin Bran....but seriously, have you tried raisin bran lately? WAAAAAAAAAY too many raisins. It's pretty much eating a spoonful of sugared raisins with a few bran flakes thrown in for color.
Pretty soon they'll take a cue from Oops All Berries!, and make Oops! All Rainsins!
BAH humbug.

There are three things I can't believe about this post:
1) It took me 2 pages to realize it is 6 years old.
2) HW remembered he made it 6 years ago.
3) I used to like Honey Nut Cheerios. Ugh.

Re: Oops! All Berries...(A "Cap'n Crunch" Joint)
When I first got my license I would make secret, specific trips to the US to buy all the cereal you "can't get in Canada"...meaning it was even worse than the garbage cereals my Mom never let me eat in the first place.
When my Mom found my stash she reacted like it was really raunchy pornography or drugs. She was all "HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON!? I RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS".

I went back to Wal-Mart at midnight, on saturday, to see if they had more...
The stock guys were unpacking the skid, when we spotted it...
A whole CASE of Oops! All Berries (14 boxes), for me to have, and not to share...
$29 later, they are safe inside my apt..

In the states just after Christmas Doritos put out Taco flavoured doritos that was a throwback to the "Taco Supreme" doritos of the 90s.
I bought twelve bags (cleaned out 3 stores) and have about 4 left. We should have a 'greedily eat our secret, cherished childhood foods' party.

My uncle has a similar story from the mid 60's, about riding trains through all 5 boros with 4 friends, and a wad of cash,
to buy up this cold medicine that was getting pulled by order of the FDA...
Because it had enough benzadrine to give Orson Welles a sporting chance in the Boston Marathon...

My wife is having a similar experience with the current round of Pepsi "Throwback" products.
Original packaging, original formulas - with sugar instead of corn syrup. They're really quite a bit better than the new stuff, especially the old Mountain Dew (tastes like it has orange juice in it, which it does!).

Re: Oops! All Berries...(A "Cap'n Crunch" Joint)
Me: No crunch, just F'N BERRIES!!
Friend: There should be a Cap'n Crunch Day
Me: If there was such a day, I would respectfully take off from work
I just made the breakfast from Asgard:
Get a loaf of Italian bread, cut in half, and scoop out the insides
Cut the halves in half (4 pieces) season with minced garlic, garlic powder, paprika, & onion flakes/powder
Cut up some butter, spread heartily, and bake until toasted
Fry 2-3 eggs per slice as bread cooks (up, over easy, or scrambled)
Put eggs in the garlic bread, top with parsley/basil/dash of paprika, for color and enjoy!!!
If you're more daring, or southern, sub in cayenne pepper for paprika
