Just after I had gotten a pet hampster I picked it up and it bit onto my finger and I flung it into the kitchen sink. It hit that sink with an absolutely skin-crawlingly loud crack. Thr hampster seemed fine, although it did grow ever meaner until the day it died.

every hamster i ever had got eaten by a cat. it was a sad, sad thing.
they were so cute, though, until they a) bit you or b) peed on you while being held in your hands.

my mother has a pet emu. it just wandered onto their property two years ago, and no one claimed it. it is very sweet and affectionate, and intensly curious. that long neck can always find it's way right into the middle of what you are doing. i walk right up to it, grab it about the neck and pet it. it likes shiny things. it is not smart. apparently the males are docile, females mean. so probably all those emu bitings were from girl emus.

and btw cat scratch fever is not rare, we see it all the time. oddly, there is usually not a fever. and it should be called kitten scratch fever, it's usually from kittens.

I was bitten by a monkey in Ecuador. A monkey biting you is like a small angry child biting you with all its might. Probably one of the evilest of all biters though is Ferrets. I was bit really hard by some Ferrets at PetCo or PetsMart or one of those places. Later I went and looked at some in a privately owned pet store and they were gentle as can be. A clerk there informed me that when they are handled regularly from birth they do not bite. The moral being, if you are going to purchase a ferret, get it from a small store. Or wear leather work gloves.

i had a pet rat named Stuart (after The Dickies' "If Stuart could talk..." song) that bit me on the lip b/c I was wearing fruit flavored lip gloss. I guess it must have smelled good.

I would think being bitten by a monkey would be quite painful. What were you doing to the monkey?

once upon a time, i was the last boy scout
in a long line of boy scouts
hiking around Greenlake
there was an enormous Great Dane, which
after all the other boy scouts had passed
leaned forward, and bit my face

i like to think of it now as some sort of benediction,
but maybe i just looked extra crispy

I was bitten by a ewe. During high school "work experience week" spent at an agricultural research site. it was kind of a gummy pinch.
