To me, one of the defining qualities of a crush is the wistful sigh, "And she doesn't even know I'm aliiiive." The position of being on the outside looking in -- pursuing the object of affection as it eternally retreats -- is an important crush component.

To quote That Dog, "By definition, a crush must hurt. And they do."

maybe that's why I don't have any. I like goals that are unattainable (or almost unattainable), but I'm not a romantic so that unattainable crush stuff goes over my head for the most part.

actually, all things romantic seem unattainable at this point, so I've pulled myself out of that race. most people find that sad, but I just don't get that.

I don't get crushes in they sense that I plan on having a relationship with. It's more like a "One-Night Crush" or casual crushing as I like to call it. This is because I'm very happy in my current relationship, and all the casual crushing that I do, basically just gets me through my work day. When you're staring at boobies, trite, tendious shit goes by so much faster.

I get all kinds of crushes, which stem from the "damn! that person is fine!" variety to the "oh my god, I want this person to be my best friend and we can go out to lunch and shopping and talk about everything in the entire world" kind. I think the friend crushes are more disappointing because almost no person can truly live up to the expectations of being the coolest person ever, and isn't it always more depressing when you're let down by a friend than by someone romantically? Maybe it's just me.
