Well, actually...
It's worse than that...

I named my kids after
Flash
Hawkman
Green Lantern

My ex wasn't a lot of things,
but she at least let me have that....

PS-I'm moving out Sunday, 5/16
and I'm waiting to see if I can have DSL at
my new place...
I might not see you guys for a while...
BRB, ok?

I guess I'll clarify the whole jock/nerd question, although I think everyone can probably guess where I really stand on it. But I got heckled in the Netherlands yesterday by someone who objected to me making fun of American football fans, (!!), which I never saw coming in a million years. I mean, if you can't make fun of the NFL in Europe, where the hell can you make fun of the NFL!!!

Truthfully, my Father is a huge sports fan and my sister is a great athlete, and I hope I'm not being too immodest when I say that I have the balletic grace of a Ukranian figure skating champion. No, when I make jokes at the expense of jocks it is meant in one of the following two ways: The super Sportsfans who act like building sports stadiums is some kind of civic duty despite the fact that they are repeatedly voted down in general elections will have a special box seat in hell, and;

The WASPy culture of "sport" wherin good physical conditioning and participation in team sports is looked upon as another indicator of class and good breeding and which is mostly responsible for the bullying of poor/sick/sensitive kids is my eternal enemy.

Of course I could be accused of being an exemplar of a different kind of WASP culture, namely the literate, arrogant writer, but I would counter that a WASP intellectual invariably is more comfortable with the Jews.

LikeGoldberg?

Professional wrestling seems to be a significant interface between comics fandom and jock culture. It's not 100% compatible, and certainly not very comfortable for either jocks or geeks to admit, necessarily, but it does function that way more than one might expect.

Which ones? Those are all titles that have been carried by more than one guy....

In fact, I'm not even sure which Flash is current now. Is it Barry Allen again?

Because, as I'm sure you know, they're bringing back Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Continuity is a fickle beast.

I've recently undergone an experience in this Wrestlilng/Comic Book nexus. A truly entertaining one at that. Just wait till I get my fantasy wrestling league going. Its like D&D without the acne! Geeks are like potato eyes.

With that said, I wish Hal Jordan would friggin stay dead. But no, only Martha and Tom Wayne and Bucky can do that in comics.

GOLDGERG RULES!!!
FEAR THE SPEAR!!!

BEST INTRO MUSIC EVER!!!
(One of the themes from the Musical "Exodus", I believe)

*Ok, so I'm a friggin' asshole jock when it
comes to Pro-Wrestling, sue me!*

I'd like to say for the RECORD, that Bill Goldberg is the
greatest Jewish athlete to have emerged since Moses...
We miss you, come back...Again!!!

My kids?

Jay Garrick-Golden Age Flash
Carter Hall-Hawkman (Always has been, always was)
Hal Jordan-Silver Age Green Lantern

Bringing back Hal was unavoidable...
Kyle is a total (Insert slur/pejoritive here)...
If Hal didn't return, there wouldn't be a Green Lantern...
(Thank you Sean, I almost said "There woudn't be NO Green Lantern")

LSJ?
Add the Silver Age Flash to that list, son...
I SAID DO IT!!!
Barry's still dead...
His sacrifice for humanity was too great,
to have it cheapened for the sake of sales...
Plus, Wally is awesome, and Bart will be a great protoge'
(Geekness regained!)

"Barry" is a name I wouldn't wish on Osama Bin-Laden...
Although, with a name like "Barry Bin-Laden ", maybe he would
not have been so influential...

Barry Bonds is a steroid taking freak...
Who has shamed the name of baseball,
and scarred the hearts of children who once thought him a hero...
I hope his liver falls out at the plate...

John,
I understand your beliefs, and respect them...
But, the Kingdome SUCKED FLYING MONKEY ASS!!!
Admit it!!!
I SAID ADMIT IT!!!
It had to be done...

I hate the WLAF/NFL Europe too...

*SPEEDS AWAY TO HAPPY HOUR*
"Whoooooooooossssssh"!

May the "Speed Force" be with you...

Rich

You were all wrong....

It was THIS guy...
No one ever saw him , but everyone knew he was there...

Image

He couldn't slow down long enough to live amongst those he protected...

Image

Swift, agile, moving on an plane beyond sound, faster than light...

The original, the Golden Age, THE FLASH!

No, they're SUPERpeople. And as such, clearly deserve their own forum.

Griffey leaves, then falls down, goes boom...
A-Rod goes to Texas, goes boom, but no one cares...
Randy Johnson, leaves town, goes boom, wins world series...

Jay Garrick could also make himself invisible.

By "jigging" from side to side.

No lie - a dancin' fool.

And Rich? THE LITTLE BIRDS WERE EXPLODED WHEN THEY BLEW UP THE KINGDOME. It was sad. Where will Speed Walker go now? [anyone remember that one? huh? huh?]
