very well = not at all, eh?meg wrote:"Freedom" and "Haikus" don't rhyme very well!
I was aiming for the “cattle” rhyme with “battle” and “seattle”.
Excuse my limerick ignorance, I was an art major.
How about
“...She questioned our freedom,
said ‘catchy will lead ’em,
Lim’ricks will not make us cattle.’ ”
There. :)

'Twas in the twilit city streets, the anarchist and I
Would often walk, the best to talk away from listening ear
For in those times, the loose-lipp'd thought could loose the bonds of fear
And surveillance trumped our common sense, with all this might imply.
"When suspicion shackles trust," he cried, “An epiphany draws near,
“For those who closely watch the Law will see its essence bared
“The nasty, brutish nature is not Man’s, but Law’s -- Beware!
“The constable is now our King! Our rights are commandeered!”
I gazed upon his bitter face, and could not help but smile,
The constable was with us then, reflected in his eyes.
No substance had the policeman, except within his bile.
For I was free, and he was free, if he would but arise
To seize the truth that few dared think since e’er the world began…
It is not Man who makes the rules, but rules that make the Man.

Dude, it's suppose to be a gentlemen's agreement type thing. He's not exactly going to send you to siberia, though if you can't handle that, then maybe you shouldn't return. He asked for a certain level of respect, that you seem unwilling to abide by.
Chill out, he wrote a constitution for the board, not declare martial law.

A rondeau.
This high coup might topple Princes
Though lonely word rarely convinces
Those who hardly feel oppressed;
So cries of "foul" seem, well, obsessed --
(Though points are won by eloquences)
Where one man's brief survey evinces
Proof of tyranny, he winces,
and counts his syllables, distressed
(though metrically precisely dressed,
This high coup).
But tart as Merlin's jellied quinces
Come quick retorts; some say, "Mince his
Form, but leave his fears unaddressed."
But John, the Uncaused Cause, has blessed
Polite dissent -- away he rinses
This high coup.
