I just made a song.

I've put the rough draft in a temporary home here.

I'm wondering if I should kill the samples, or if they sound as spooky as I want them to. I know I want them to be more backgroundy, like a telephone voice or something.

Grant, that was great! I agree with Liesbeth, it definitely had a spooky feeling to it, at the very least. The samples added a lot to that too. Great Job!!

Whatever became of this? I get that some might want to opt out--no need to force the rock--but the compilation idea is a good one.

I officially admit defeat. I haven't had the peace of mind to work on any of my own songs lately, let alone someone else's. I'm still enjoying the songs posted so far though.

yes. Is this still happening? Is there a master list of what everyone is doing. I just put a video of me on YouTube doing "Carparts". I see that's already claimed, but I would love to take a stab at another tune.

BTW. The take on Fire Island is awesome.

I so think we should get re-into this, thanks Matthew for bumping this thread up (I didn't know it existed).

I'd so do a couple songs, if anyone else uses GarageBand theoretically we could collaborate by sending tracks back and forth via e-mail. Gimme a shout.

I FINALLY DID IT!

Caps aside, I did it. I finished a cover. Scared Straight. If anyone knows a place to host mp3's and such, I can send it over. Otherwise I suppose no one will ever hear it.

Next I'm doing Carparts; because it's a sweet song, a girl at work likes me to play it on lunch break and I know all the words.
"hard candy is your lipstick" or something like that.

Wait--whose is this?

So far for the Tributarium I'm seeing:
+ Fire Island - Grant
+ The Commander Thinks Aloud - Grant
+ Carparts - Jace Krause
+ It'll Be a Breeze - Jace Krause
+ Scared Straight - Patrick Becerra
+ Medicine Cabinet Pirate - ???

matthewsturm: is yours available as an mp3?

You know? I think your cover is great! No afraid-ness necessary.

Once I fully move into my new apartment, I'm going to try and record a song or two... right now I'm feeling 'Blue Diamonds' and 'Clouds.' I'll submit the better of the two.

C'mon everybody! Join in!
