Man, is that band good stuff. They played such a wonderful mix of old and new. Though I was dissapointed that they didn't play Engine Driver or Mariner's Revenge, but apparently I missed out on that last night. Oh well. They played July, July! which was good enough for me.
A certain man we all know [and love/loath] was there. It was revealed that he was once a chimbley sweep, and then he promptly dropped his pants.
The all-ages show on the 27th was my third time seeing them this year, and it was BY FAR the best one. What a setlist! I heard EVERYTHING I hoped to... a good long show, too.
They didn't play Mariner's Revenge? You, sir, were screwed. I saw them earlier this month in CBus, OH. The band closed out their set (pre-encore) with Mariner's Revenge complete with a giant whale on two sticks that supposedly chomped the audience to pieces.
Might've been the highlight of the show. Twas jolly good.
they played "the mariner's revenge song" at the first seattle show, on thursday night. 'twas complete with the whale jaws and chris funk running through the audience with them. that song live = fun. i can't think of a better word to describe it than that.
but then again, the decemberists live, in general, is fun. i love them so.

a) it's ma'am.
b)I've seen them play both the songs before. I was just hoping to hear them again.
But then, a pantsless J-Rod makes up for the lack of whale attacks.
