A Seattle Weekly Hipster is the 40 old bald guy who asks the clerk at Barnes & Noble about some band that was featured in the Seattle Weekly. They always show up to Sleater Kinney shows wearing fanny packs. They aren't as much of an eyesore as, let's say, your stereotypical jock wearing a Brewers cap, but they can go fucking die anyway.

I agree with Brutaful Smile, 21+ shows are better than all-ages shows in every possible way.

it really has nothing to do w/drinking or getting drunk. in fact drunk obnoxious people can completely ruin a show. i think it has more to do w/being around your peers. and for some of us are peers are older.

If you can't go to the Long Winters show on the 26th in Seattle because of the age thing, there's always Tori Amos/Ben Folds at Marymoor Park.

The best place to see an all ages show is at the Showbox.

You can stand in the bar and have a drink with full and close view of the stage, and the shows aren't usually sold out like the one the night before featuring the same line-up.

Punk music sucks. Always did and always will. Aside from a vinyl copy of "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" by Bad Religion, I thought the whole scene was completely irrelevent. My philolsophy: if a teenager with pierced nuts can do it, then it isn't art? Dead Kennedys or Blink 182? Who cares? It all sounds like Eve 6 to me.

I'm just sayin' that just because I like real music, and not that pussy glam shit, doesn't give all y'all the right to pigeonhole me. I ain't no "90's Punk" (in huge bold font) and I sure as hell don't own any Rancid tee-shirts.

However, I must admit that I agree 100% with the 29 year old "90's Punk" (from Skip's off-topic Onion link). Dumb-ass kids with frosted bangs and a $13 Hamburglar tee-shirts driving around with no arrest warrant in their parents lime green minivan are NOT punks.

Furthermore, although I would never classify myself as a "Punk", "Too Drunk To Fuck" is number 6 on my all time top 10 list of songs. Without the Dead Kennedys, Nirvana (Milk It) and The Wipers (D7) would have had no guitar chords to steal for their lame-ass records.

eric said that they are playing two shows at the croc. a 21 and under show at like 7, and a 21 and over show later on that night. so everyone who is under go early and quit crying. they do as much as they can to play at venues where all their fans can go and enjoy as much as everyone else. and i don't know about you, i am pumped to see my bro play tomorrow night at the croc!!

right, the show with clem snide - but when i checked the croc calendar recently it said that Dear John Letters were now playing that particular show. hmm? confusement.

That show at the Crocodile in July (the 19th) with Clem Snide headlining, has *both* the Long Winters and Dear John Letters opening up. This is great news, as I love all 3 of these bands, and the 2 locals in particular. And while I'm at it, I gotta add they compliment each other remarkably well.

So I'm 29 (or I will be on July 19), and I'm headed for the all-ages version of this bill. Why? While I can see the appeal of preferring to rub elbows with folks yer own age, and certainly no one wants to feel old, all-ages shows are better.
