Google the band.

Not bad for two days, guys.

And--on the chance you didn't know--linking to The Long Winters or The Long Winters' Message Board (like that) is a great boon to helping us get "found" by people.

Just if you're looking to help the boys in the "Google Dance."

Does making links outward from the board help with the Google ranking as well?

You mean to thelongwinters.com? Yeah, it helps a little.

The thing that makes Google Google is its ability to see several things at once (at my peril, and with apologies, I'll try to explain).

Google looks at:

+ Which sites links to foo page?
+ How many sites overall link to foo page?
+ Of the people who link to foo page, how "authoritative" are they? (Meaning "Who links to the people who link to foo page?"). And so on. Hence the google dance each month or so.

So the more people who link especially the words "Long Winters" to thelongwinters.com, the better. (That's also how people make google bombs, too, by the way).

Many links from many sites make thelongwinters.com the "authoritative" target for those two words, and consequently shoots us up in the rankings (even displacing "long winter's stare" and delightful weblogs that mention the band a lot).

I wonder if there'd be any interest in a small tile campaign.
