KEXP Long Winters live podcast

Post by Liesbeth »

As reported in another topic, KEXP now offers a Long Winters podcast in their Live Performances podcast series.
To subscribe to this series, use the links on this KEXP page. It's this week's download, but it will stay available for manual download afterwards (doesn't it sound like I've been doing this forever? not bad for a podcast newbie).

The podcast features "exclusive songs and discussion from John Richards and John Roderick on politics, architecture, and the music industry" and a good 59'20" of it.

The first twenty minutes is up at My Long Winters Page in FLAC format. If you've heard that already, you can skip twenty or thirty minutes in. I wish I had that in lossless too -- it was a fantastique set.

It's contained within the podcast XML file. Load that file in your browser and you should see a bunch of XML gibberish. Scroll down a bit and you'll see that amongst all the gibberish are the URLs to the actual podcast MP3s. Look for where it says <enclosure url="http://content.digitalwell.washington.edu... that's the direct link. The podcast software just turns that crazy XML file into nice clickable links to the music.

thanks, useful info

Songs that are part of the podcast: Pushover, Fire Island, AK, Teaspoon, Honest, Ultimatum (acoustic version), Clouds, Seven, Carparts.
The first four were part of the original John in the Morning live broadcast. Beautiful version of Ultimatum.
