Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
Jim Anderson's recordings from the Crococdile Cafe are now available at the University of Washington http://www.lib.washington.edu/media/crocodile.html . Unfortunately you will have to go to the UW library to listen to them. They have the following shows listed for the Long Winters:
The Long Winters | 1/2 | 2003-07-19
The Long Winters | 1/2 | 2004-04-30
The Long Winters | 1/2 | 2005-11-25
The Long Winters | 1/15 | 2003-06-26
These are probably already available on-line somewhere but I think it's worth a trip next time I'm in the area.

What about Western State Hurricanes and Bun Family Players shows? These would be true treasures if they exist. True. Treasures.

Unfortunately I didn't see the Bun Family Players but I did see :

How does it feel to be a part of the UW Ethnomusicology Archives?

Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
I used to take co-eds down into the Ethnomusicology archives, so I already feel a part of it.
That "Hurricanes" show was a comical reunion, sans Stephanie, for a few poorly played impromptu songs. Doesn't count. Is there nothing before 2000 in his tapes?

Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
As you all know, I'm definitely interested in hearing these recordings, but am terribly confused by the website...
Can I listen to the recordings? If so, how?
Beginning on August 11, yes! The collection will be made available via iTunes on two listening stations at the Libraries Media Center, which is located on the mezzanine level of Odegaard Undergraduate Library (hours and location information available here).
Why aren't the recordings online?
The University of Washington owns the recordings but not the rights to the intellectual content captured on the recordings. Therefore, in order to prevent unauthorized duplication and distribution of the recordings, we restrict access to in-library use only.
Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
The earliest shows seem to be 2002. Perhaps this is only part one of the release? I've never heard the Bun Family Players so I'd be interested in that.
Back in the olden days when I was at the UW when you went to the media center you picked a selection you wanted to listen to and had one of the techs cue it up to your listening station. I think they're just using iTunes as the software so you can cue the selections up yourself but you still need to listen at a designated listening station in the library. There isn't going to be any way to listen on your own equipment or take the music with you.

John Roderick | 2004-11-14
(I assume the first one is just a typo.) I noticed some of the shows are just listed as cover nights (like John Lennon Night) but don't list the performers. Are there any other shows with possible LW appearances we should look for?

Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
Ah! Thanks! I get it now. I stopped reading after "made available on iTunes". Or just forgot I had read the rest. I wonder if Jim Anderson is willing to let these recordings be released elsewhere, if he prefers they stay in the library?
Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
Lets see: Sean and I played there numerous times as a duo, but I don't know how that would be listed. Maybe Sean and John? Also we had a band called the Tennessee Valley Authority where we played Aaron Huffman's songs, in which I played bass. Then there's The Unrelentless, which had a rotating line-up and only came together to play cover nights and other shenanigans.
Re: Jim Anderson's Crocodile Cafe Recordings
That was a really good show, especially notable for the version of Only Living Boy in New York featuring three-part harmonies by John, Matthew and Sean.pahouk wrote: John Rodderick and Matt Caws | 2004-09-24
I get the chills just thinking about it. Great moment.

Also, I guess I didn't look close enough earlier but I just saw these additional TLW shows listed:
The Long Winters | 2002-11-01
The Long Winters | 2003-04-08
The Long Winters | 2003-09-29
The Long Winters | 2004-02-01

I think I need to plan a long afternoon at the UW library.
