"Nincompoop" is just a great all-around word; you get three different and meaningful meanings out of it: one... 'NIN', i.e. the Nine Inch Nails; two... 'COM', I won't go there/for obvious reasons; and three... 'POOP', which is easily self-explanitory. Ah, what a great word.
I don't know why I thought of those three things when I saw the word, but I felt I needed to write about it anyway.
I think the first few are just "stupid i would feel if I..." Im pretty certain about that (I'm pretty all the time, actually).
While the last one is "If i was somewhere else i would not have her."
or "If i was somewhere else I would not be here." Though, I'm not altogether certain on the veracity of the last one. Perhaps we could get some help...................

although hearing it on the record I'd say so too, live it seemed more like "stupid... why the hell did I", or something like that. And for the record, I'm absolutely uncertain about that.

those guys are laughing at us, I'm sure!
oh well, let's just bravely say it's good to have some mystery left, eh?
The 'secret Sharon Tate film...' line was one of my harmony parts in Harvey Danger, so I sang it every night. He explained it to me but I don't remember wha ti twas, except that it was dirty.
And I have no idea what he's singing in Stupid either.
Last week I took this song to the car sing-a-long test, which is a sort of thing where I turn up the album and sit up as straight as I can and drive around making up harmonies when there aren't any and wrecking them when there are...any. My attempt at the "Stupid" harmony-lyrics led to: "she said! mleeegafhaa! whaaa! youhavenowaaaahhhh!"
And you can take that to the bank. I sounded f'in awesome, people.
