straw poll: the best noisemaker....
If you please, tell the world what the very best way is to make the very best noises.
Please include modifications and specifications, like:
Fender Telecaster Squire Custom with rusted strings and at least three inches of stickers, running through an analog delay pedal and a tube amp.
Or, at least, tips about what makes for good listening.
Drums, surf-beat (accents on the ONE and on both the THREE-AND), with a ride cymbal doing the eighth notes like a ping-ping-ping-ping-ping-ping... because it turns my life into a 1960s spy movie, and I am suddenly as cool as James Bond.
As if that is all that is good about music.
Add your own suggestions, too. The polls aren't long enough to contain all the good ways to make the noise.

Yes sir. Incidentally, my birthday's coming up in two weeks and anyone who wants to is welcome to buy me a melodica* so that I can become even more awesome then I already am.
* This excludes Christine, as she bought me a dollar-store melodica for Christmas. I turn blue when I play it.

Your birthday's been moved up? Were there scheduling conflicts with the other one?
Also, come on, I've been trying to find you a melodica for years now. I got you an accordion. ISN'T THAT GOOD ENOUGH?

Oh my god, I hate you. TWO MONTHS. OK? HAPPY!?! Keep this "correcting Meg" crap up and you're not invited to my birthday party.

You do get lots and lots and lots of points for keeping my wishes in mind. And you know the accordion rocks. I totally take that mother out during crazy dance parties and play it. With my writin' fedora on.
I bet EVERYONE wishes they lived with ME.

Quite, quite. Was tempted, you know, to describe the accordion as the Prince of Free Reeds up in the poll descriptions, but, well, it was clearly giving me enough guff on its own without any external complications.
I've got a DaVinci squeezebox at home - obtained for less than $80 through the auspices of eBay. It seems like it's a squidge smaller than the standard-sized accordion, probably made for children's fingers. Has a lovely sound, though.
But what in heaven's name is a roxychord? Is it a free reed as well? Interesting the preponderance of free reed enthusiasts round these parts.

A Roxichord is a splendid distorted electronic harpsichord/organ-like instrument that Sam Coomes plays in Quasi. I believe it's a real-and-true vintage piece (although I think I read that Sam's original model went down and the newer albums use an approximated sound?).

Gah! Would help if I spelled it correctly, Grant -- thanks, Meg. (:
Now I know why I never got any good Google results.
(Hey, look! A Quasi tab page! Neat!)

See, disbelievers? Melodicas KICK ASS.

Hey, that was you, wasn't it? I was wondering what you were doing skulking about back there. (:
I love how the Roxichord Approximator kind of looks like it's in a coffin. It's like the undead of Roxichords.
