mixing

Postby John » Thu Nov 11, 2004 12:49 am

So, we've spent the last few days at Seattle's lovely Avast! studios mixing some of the songs for the next disc and everything is turning out swimmingly. We haven't actually finished recording all the songs yet, through a quirk of fate, and it now looks like we'll be bringing Chris Walla into the project to help us finish.

Actually, I lied. Not finishing the recording yet is NOT due to a quirk of fate. It's due to me chasing butterflies and playing ultimate frisbee.

well, between a hidden update on the bookwriting in Cattywampus and this mere Administrivia, maybe we can cancel Give Me a Moment?
I'm not complaining about the actual content, mixing songs, Walla, sounds good

Actually, I was just thinking of moving this to Give Me a Moment.

I'm also really curious how it works to bring someone on in the middle of a project -- does this mean Walla will be recording/producing a few of the songs, and the others were recorded/produced/mixed elsewhere?

Seattle is home to three national champion ultimate frisbee teams. The men's, women's and co-ed. The national championships were a few weeks ago in Florida.

Does Walla's signing to Atlantic mean anything contractually when he produces another band's albums outside of that label?

I don't see how. DCFC signed to Atlantic, that doesn't prevent the seperate parts from working on music related projects outside of the band. Postal Service anyone?

Of course! I'm going to go close my head in a car-door a few times now.

I think he was referring to Gibbard going outside of Barsuk to work with SubPop.
