I'm still anxiously awaiting a release date for both this album, and Nada Surf's latest. What's going on Barsuk?

I could tell you the date that was given to a room of several hundred CIMS (Coalition of Independent Music Stores) reps today by the big man...but if John wanted you to know, wouldn't he just tell you?

He doesn't love me enough. :(

I think it's because I pay him in Canadian dollars.

well Jason, start a music store and you might know.
isn't the anticipation wonderful though? could be 2008, could be 2007, a realm of possibilities is extending...

also, can I officially declare Forrest candidate for the 'unmerciful tease of the year' award. Twice in one week, booh!

Somehow withdrawal has felt quite accute these past 24 hours. But with the help of our little self-help group here, we will make it through.

Hard to believe how long the turnaround of the whole process is. Nada Surf's album was originally supposed to be released last September (and then November, and then February). And didn't John say they were finished recording this guy? Or imply it, at least? Is post-production really that long a task? I mean, they're talking of releasing the new Death Cab album this fall, and I believe the band is still in the studio.

you know, it does feel terribly terribly far away. Maybe we can get some journal stories of the recording or something? pictures? outtakes?

As far as I know, they finished up mid April, and its done. Plans does seem to be moving quickly, but JV moved quickly too. But the V-Slice is putting everyone else to shame.

Plans is in the capable hands of Applejack Walla, and he's working his magic on the final mixes.

The Long Winters album is just now cooling on the windowsill.

And JV...well, he's nothing short of amazing.

I don't know the whole story behind the Nada Surf delays, but we're all very relieved to be out of that phase. I've only heard a couple of tracks from it, but they sounded great. Like REALLY great. Matthew played two of them at the CIMS showcase, and they went over pretty well, I think.

I absolutely adore Walla's mixing.

If the LW album didn't have to cool on the window sill, 2005 could have been the greatest year for music in decades. But I take a great deal of solace is knowing it is coming, and is unlikely to be delayed.

I've only recently got into Vanderslice, truthfully...so I don't know the story behind him putting everyone to shame. What's the word, bird?

The Slice is putting people to shame by being a FREAKIN' factory of not only amazing cds, but consistently pumping them out under 2 years apart, and sometimes even less!
11 months after mass occult... we got Time Travel Is Lonely, then 11 months after that we got Life & Death....then 19 months later we got Cellar Door, and now 20 months later we've got pixel revolt. A factory I tell you! Not even the Beastie Boys are that consistent (even in sound and quality)!

That is the only shaming JV does...well that we know about.

Does anyone else have a problem with "losing" JV cds? I tend to play them for people and then they mysteriously disappear. "Oh no, i'm sure you didn't leave that in my car. You must have left it on the bus".

I have at least two empty cellar door cases and it's time to buy yet another.... Maybe I should buy in bulk.
