I heared the Long Winters for the first time when they played as support act for Keane, Nov 10th in Kopenhagen, Denmark. Like Marco says, I was so impressed with the enthousiasm they played... I must say, I was not even a Keane freak, I was convinced by a good friend to come over to Denmark (I live elsewhere in Europe ;) ) and for both bands I must say I was quite impressed. The Long Winters had excellent interaction with the audience, the singer listened very well to what was said in the audience, for example for the song Rich Wife someone in the audience on my right (I was standing 3rd row, not even front row) commented something like you gotta work hard and he started laughing about it... it definitely was not a band who was just there to play a few songs. It's the kind of band where I wish that they keep on playing smaller gigs where you keep the contact with the audience. And now... showtime ;)

The early photos are not the best ones. I skipped them for posting.
The photos started having some decent quality at the part where Tim from Keane played with them. Not for that reason, lighting simply was an issue and it's the limitation of how steady I can keep my arm in an enthousiastic audience!

Not sure what the guitarist was up to here... he played like in trance. Immense passion...

The sound is aweful, my phone was not made for this kind of sound pressure level. But I really liked their performance and it gives just a little idea of the ambiance they played in.

So, I am very happy that I got to know the Long Winters, I will surely now be checking out more of their music! And who knows... maybe see them at a next gig!

UK Keane tour Feb/March 2007

Postby Meritaten » Thu Nov 23, 2006 3:22 am

Keane have announced more shows in the UK in February/March next year. Can we expect TLW support for these? If so, could they please, please, please have some headlining shows here, too!!

I finally remembered my password...ha!

Like Laurenz said, I also got into The Long Winters through Keane...and I've to admit: why does it took so long for me to recognize these guys? The main act of the evening in Berlin was spectacular, but I was more than happy to register John, Eric and Nabil (okay, I had to search a little to find their names) standing near their merch stall like left alone at a table for waiting things to come.

What do I have to say? I've never met such down-to-earth, friendly and funny musicians. I had a little chat with John about bands become bigger and bigger with bigger locations (Keane), touring through Europe and East Germany (they seem to like Dresden for some reasons) within he promised that they will do a tour in January/February next year.

"A lot of intimate gigs with a lot of guitar solos, jammin' and such stuff" was his promise before I got a hug and a picture with a friend of mine and the band...

2007 is going to be a really good year.
