shall we have a topic called American tour??

Postby Liesbeth » Wed Jan 24, 2007 12:04 pm

the High Noon Saloon in Madison has a Long Winters show slated on their website thusly :
Thu. March 22 Last Coast/ True Endeavors presents
The Long Winters
The Bound Stems
8:00 PM / $12 cover 21 AND UP

so I did some more searching and Brooklyn Vegan says this:
The Long Winters (who by the way still have their whole new album streaming) are touring Europe in February and March before coming back to tour the U.S.A. All the dates haven't been announced, but the following tickets are on sale:

Mar 10 - The Independent, CA
Mar 30 - Maxwell's, Hobooken, NJ
Mar 31 - Mercury Lounge, NYC
Apr 01 - Mercury Lounge, NYC

and the full European tour schedule, which is nice because it explains why Americans have to wait a bit longer for their Long Winters live goodness. And because Europeans read American websites too (mumble mumble Barsuk, mumble tlw.com, mumble)!

Madison, eh? That's kinda in my neighborhood (well, the midwest, anyway) Might be too far to drive with a newborn in the house.

IOWA CITY, however, has the recently remodeled Gabe's Oasis (now the Picador). New slogan - "You won't be afraid to use the bathroom anymore!"

I seem to remember the Long Winters playing there before... hmmmm.

OK, if you come to my town I will let you hold my baby. She is super cute.

I will also become a one-man street team in terms of free posters and advertizing. You haven't lived until you have seen a dude stapling up fliers to 'lectric posts while carrying a baby in one of those Baby Bjorns.

I don't have a baby with which to bribe you, but I'll make sandwiches! On white AND brown bread.

Both on one sandwich? Or on two seperate ones? This could be a deal-breaker.

I meant separate, but now that I consider it.... two-in-one might be the way to go.

Let's see...

[(X - Y)Z]/(C + F) + B = ???

X = 9 pm L-Dubs show in Chicago

Z = Really wanna see the L-Dubs
C= Newborn
F = Four-hour drive
B = Babysitter

Any math majors wanna help me out with this one?

I've calculated this a few times now, and it always says "NYA is going to the show! Totally!" in the end.

I think ??? stands for:
- is mom gonna support this crazy scheme? (promise her your support when she wants ... [whatever she wants])
- can you find a baby sitter who is not into the Long Winters? (tricky I'm sure, coz do you really want your girl exposed to whatever happens to be the bland flavour of the month, or rather to someone with taste)
- is the new girl ready yet for her hardfought independence? (In my opinion you cannot start her on that early enough, if you want her to leave home before she's 50 years old.)

Of course, should you not be able to do it this time, you will always still have a cute girl and some beautiful nappy changing moments - you cannot lose.

Well that double door show in my home city is seriously making me regret the move to a smaller market. Damn KC why aren't you a lure.

YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! *does happy dance*
Am I allowed to be that excited here? Screw it, I'm OH SO happy!

I predict a trip to Chicago in a few months ... or maybe Michigan ... or Cincinnati! I feel like Christmas. Warm fuzzies all around.
