Sasquatch 2010

Postby NatureBoy » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:57 pm

The Long Winters are returning to Sasquatch this year! They played the main stage three years ago, in place of M.I.A.

Strong lineup this year.

They are playing Sunday May 30th, I think another Bumbershoot like trip is in order.

very, very nice line-up.
too bad May and our summer holiday aren't really compatible, unless I work extra hard to make that time shifting paradigma work for a change. So far my efforts have only made winter last extra long. No pun intended.

my verbal response "VWAHHHHHHHHH"

We went to Seattle for bumbershoot last year as our honeymoon, and our "anniversary" trip this year is for the 4-day Pavement reunion in Central Park. Unless it suddenly becomes a lot less cheaper to stay in NYC in a week I think it's probably going to be my only trip this year.

It says in the Sasquatch blurb that "The Long Winters have begun work on their new album with producer John Goodmanson at Electro-Kitty studios in Seattle."

Is that the same as last year?

Here's a small mention in Spin of The Long Winters set : http://m.spin.com/articles/10-best-mome ... page=0%2C1. I really hope I get to hear their Touch of Gray cover someday.

Edited to add: Another short mention about Sasquatch: http://earcandybeat.com/?q=node/712

So who was playing drums for them at Sasquatch?

By the way, The Hold Steady were FANTASTIC on Saturday! Nada Surf was also terrific. The Posies played a bunch of new songs which were more meh, than anything else.

drums were played by Alex Wescoat, and bass by Andy Fitts, both were great at the gigs I saw leading up to Sasquatch

And quite an honor to have been deemed Best Cover by Spin, The Greatful Dead were a generation before me, but TLW definitely brought it to life.

ADDITION:

Did a quick Google search and came up with this, a nice photo set of TLW from our new found drummer's brother? His flickr page has the last name spelled Westcoat; Have I been dredging the forum in misspelled tomfoolery?

I can't remember the name, but he joined The Newton Girls at the Croc for the same song too.

In that video, you can see the guy with the Canadian flag that is mentioned here: http://earcandybeat.com/?q=node/712 pretty funny.

that ear candy review says
Nice of them bring out PUSA's Andrew McKeag for a few songs, including a ramped-up cover of the Dead's "Touch of Grey."
so that's who I assume it is, but to be honest the only presidents of the USA I recognize are those who were in office in the past few decades...
